Grilled Pizza Party!
Picture sitting on the deck on a warm afternoon at your patio table and biting into a toasty, crunchy dough covered with Mom's homemade sauce, cheese and your favorite toppings.
On Saturday, Chris and I decided to get a loaf of Italian bread and split it into 4 pieces. We lit the kamado Joe grill, cooked off some buffalo chicken and steamed some clams in beer and garlic.
From there we topped one piece of bread with my Mom's homemade sauce, shredded mozzarella, shredded mixed cheese and fresh grated parmesan (top right). The second piece of bread we spread cream cheese on, placed buffalo chicken and shredded mixed cheese (top left). That one was drizzled with buffalo sauce and ranch before we pulled it off the grill so the sauce didn't go all over. For the third piece we put Mom's homemade sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni and grated parmesan (bottom left). The fourth piece of bread had Mom's homemade sauce, mozzarella, fresh cooked clams, oregano, garlic powder and grated parmesan cheese (bottom right).
We grilled over indirect, high heat allowing the bread to toast and the cheese to melt. Since everything was already cooked we just needed to heat it, so the cooking did not take long.
Using the grill is a fun way to cook pizza or reheat it, especially with a char grill or smoker! Give it a try next time you want pizza!
