A Taste of Celebration

Eating is something we need to do to survive. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack time are all important. Sometimes it's not just because you need it. Sometimes we do it for special occasions. Last night, my boyfriend cooked me dinner to celebrate a new job opportunity! This recipe, I can't share, but it's one of my favorites. Chris created this recipe on his own, and it gets more delicious every time we have it! We don't have it often, and it's not the best when it comes to calories since there is pasta, bacon, and a creamy rich sauce; but it is worth it for celebration!

A side note, Chris is not in the restaurant industry, he has had no official training, and didn't cook as a part time job. He started cooking mostly when he went off to college, and decided he liked it. Luckily, he continued to cook for me over the last 5 years, and when I was a restaurant manager he was mainly the dinner maker. I mention this, because if you enjoy and have passion in something, then you can excel at it! It's also fun to have someone to dance around the kitchen with, and cook with.

Back to the dish, I call, Chris's Chicken. We will have to come up with a more clever name, but for now, this will do. This dish is a great balance of flavor! The chicken was grilled in a grill pain, seasoned with basic seasonings of salt and pepper, and grilled in olive oil. On top of that you have cooked spinach, and next my favorite part, the creamy homemade tomato sauce. I can't disclose what goes into the sauce, or how it's made, but it is creamy and delicious! We also put the sauce on the pasta, and then top it all with bacon. Typically in the past, we have made this with nocchi instead of fetuccini, but it is yummy both ways! So that gives you an idea of the build of the dish, and as you may be able to see and tell from the description, that there are a lot of good flavors coming together in this dish.

When we make special dishes, sometimes its just for fun. Sometimes we do it to celebrate! I have always looked at food as a treat. For birthdays, Holidays, Anniversaries and other special occasions, I have found it's more fun to spend time with someone and eat to celebrate instead of getting gifts. Especially if you can spend the time cooking together, or even just talking over the meal. Last night I assisted Chris a tiny bit, and it made it fun. Instead of him getting me something for my new job, I got to laugh, sing, dance, eat and talk with my best friend. I will have the memory of this meal in my mind between the lovely time we had, and just remember the taste of the food. So next time you want to celebrate someone or something, maybe the most exciting thing you could do is cook for or with them and enjoy one another's company.
