That's a Wrap on Leftovers

People say they don't like leftovers; however, I think it's more they just don't know what to do with them to make it taste as good as before! It's fun to cook new dishes, but it's also fun to turn leftovers from the night before into a new dish!

For this one I had some left over flat iron steak from two nights ago that was marinated in salt, pepper, and olive oil. I didn't have any sauces or anything to worry about, so I just heated up the steak in some olive oil, it was already cubed. While that heated, I diced up some tomato, threw some lettuce and cheese on a wrap, then the steak, tomatoes and some ranch! Lunch took no time to make, isn't terrible in calories, gave me some protein and fresh veggies, and a full tummy!

I also enjoy leftover steak the next day with an over-easy or scrambled eggs. Steak isn't the only leftover food. Mashed potatoes can become potato pancakes. Chicken can be used in wraps and casseroles. Bacon can be chopped or diced and used as a topping, in soups, casseroles, and more.

It's also about how you warm things up. Microwaves are easy, but they dry things out. I love Pizza reheated in a toaster oven or the regular oven. I prefer steak heated up in some butter, but I do olive oil too. Cooking with butter, in my opinion, is always more tasty, but not always better for your diet needs. I like to heat a lot of my leftovers in a pan. It helps keep juices in the dish instead of drying it out.

Not everything is good leftover. French fries are usually awful warmed over even in an oven or toaster oven. It doesn't hurt to try though. Next time your server asks if you'd like a box. Think about all the fun things you can do with your leftover steak, chicken, or whatever it may be!
